1. Don't bump!

Sometimes in the heat of the game, when the coin pusher machine is constantly challenging you and your prizes aren't moving, you might feel tempted to give the machine a bump.

But that will either get you banned from the arcades or win you a prize you didn't really earn.

Instead, we've got some actual tips to increase your chance to win:

2. Find the right machine

If you have several coin pushers to choose from, pick one wisely: avoid machines that were just restocked by staff and look for ones that have been played for a while, with coins, chips, or prizes already close to the edge, giving you a better chance to win.

3. Time the drop

Winning at a coin pusher is often seen as pure luck, but there’s actually some skill involved too.

The timing of dropping your coins is the most important factor. Try to make sure each coin lands behind the stacked coins, not on top of them. Coins that land on top usually do nothing. Sometimes it’s better to drop a single coin, while other times it’s smarter to drop several at once. This is explained in more detail in the video at the top of this page.

4. Watch Out for Hidden Holes

Most coin pushers have hidden holes where coins disappear. If you're putting in a lot of coins without seeing results, this might be why. The more weight on the playfield, the more coins will be pushed to those side holes.

5. Is it really about to fall?

Sometimes you’ll find a coin pusher with a single value chip already hanging over the edge. You might think it will fall by inserting just one coin, but check carefully if it’s really ready to drop and whether the back of the chip is free too. If other chips or coins are stacked on top, the value chip can slide forward quite far without actually falling. Often, it’s just not worth it!
